Choosing the right tool
for cleaner contour
When you think of body contouring as a way to lose weight quickly, it doesn’t work as well. Liposuction is a targeted procedure that uses a small cannula to remove fat from specific areas and improve proportions. It is not a single method, and it is not meant to replace a healthy lifestyle or help you lose weight overall. When people talk about “technology,” they usually mean how the fat is loosened and taken away, how carefully the tissues around it are handled, and how accurately the final shape can be made.
Mayam Aesthetic sees technology as a tool to help with the plan, not as something that controls it. Your fat type, skin quality, and the area being treated determine the method. It is then used carefully and consistently because good judgment and precise execution, not aggressive removal, give you a natural-looking definition.
The foundation most modern
lipo shares: tumescent technique
Before any tools are used, most modern liposuction uses a step that makes the process more comfortable and safe: a tumescent solution (fluid) is added to the area being treated. This fluid helps numb the area, cuts down on bleeding, and makes the process of removing fat smoother and more controlled.
That’s why you’ll often hear “tumescent liposuction” in good medical explanations. It’s not a word used in advertising. It is a big part of how a lot of liposuction is done today.
The technology menu: what the
different systems actually do
Different liposuction technologies are typically described by how they assist fat removal. Common categories include suction-assisted, power-assisted, ultrasound-assisted, laser-assisted, and radiofrequency-assisted liposuction.
Here is what that means in practical terms:
- Suction-assisted liposuction (SAL): the traditional method where fat is manually loosened and removed via suction.
- Power-assisted liposuction (PAL): uses a vibrating cannula to reduce surgeon effort and support more controlled movement in certain areas.
- Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL), including VASER-style approaches: uses ultrasound energy to help break down fat before removal, which can be helpful in more fibrous areas and in detailed sculpting plans.
- Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL): uses laser energy to liquefy fat and can be paired with contouring goals where controlled energy use is part of the plan.
- Radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (RFAL): uses RF energy with the aim of assisting fat removal and supporting tissue contraction in selected cases.
Not every patient benefits from every device. In many cases, the simplest tool in the right hands can outperform a “premium” tool used in the wrong situation.
How Mayam Aesthetic chooses
the right technology for you
At Mayam Aesthetic, the choice is based on how the body works and what the results will be, not on what’s popular. Your plan usually takes into account:
1) Area characteristics
Some zones are softer and more forgiving. Others are fibrous and demand a technology that supports controlled removal and smooth transitions.
2) Skin behaviour
Liposuction removes fat. It does not automatically tighten loose skin. If skin elasticity is limited, we discuss realistic contour expectations and whether adjunct tightening is appropriate.
3) Definition goals
A “soft contour” goal is different from an “athletic definition” goal. Certain ultrasound-assisted approaches are commonly positioned for higher-definition sculpting, but the decision is still personalised.
What the experience feels like: aftercare in real terms
Compression is a common part of the recovery plan after liposuction. You usually get compression bandages or a supportive garment to help with swelling and bruising. Depending on the area treated, you may need to wear it for a few weeks.
You may also be told to take painkillers, and in some cases, you may be given antibiotics right after the procedure to lower the risk of infection.
The swelling goes down in stages, so you won’t see the “final look” right away. We make it clear at Mayam Aesthetic what you should expect so you know what early swelling is normal and when to judge refinement.
A simple way to think about results
Liposuction technology can improve precision and efficiency, but it does not replace good planning. The real indicator of quality is how smooth the contours look as you move, how natural the transition is between treated and untreated areas, and how well the result suits your frame. Liposuction is best seen as contour correction, not a shortcut for overall weight loss.
