Controlled collagen renewal
for smoother, clearer skin

Some treatments work best not by changing the skin overnight, but by teaching it how to heal itself. Microneedling does this by using controlled precision: a medical device with very fine needles makes tiny micro-channels in the skin, which starts the body’s natural repair process and helps new collagen grow, making the surface look smoother and healthier over time.

What it is and how it is done are both important. At Mayam Aesthetic, microneedling is part of a skin care program. The depth of the needles and the speed of the sessions are adjusted to your skin type, your specific problem, and how your skin usually heals. This way, results build up slowly and safely, without causing unnecessary irritation.

What microneedling
can improve

Microneedling is commonly used to soften or refine:

  • acne scars and post-acne marks
  • dark spots and uneven tone, including melasma-prone discolouration
  • enlarged-looking pores
  • fine lines and early creasing
  • uneven texture and mild laxity
  • stretch marks and certain body scars, in selected areas

Your session, simplified

Most treatments follow a clear flow:

  1. Skin check and mapping: the area is assessed, and the goal is defined (texture, pores, pigmentation, scars, or a mix).
  2. Comfort and delivery: numbing can be used, but you may still feel a hot, scratchy sensation in some zones.
  3. Recovery instructions: you leave with a practical routine designed to keep irritation low while the skin settles.

In the Mayam Aestetic protocol, settings are kept conservative when your skin is pigment-prone, and gradually adjusted only when the skin shows it can heal cleanly.

The week before: arrive with calm skin

You shouldn’t microneedle skin that has just been tanned. Don’t get a fake tan or go outside in the sun for about a week before your appointment unless you have the right protection. The goal is to lower the risk of changes in sensitivity and color. If you have an active infection, a flare-up, or a new rash in the area, it’s usually best to reschedule.

The first 72 hours: do less, heal better

Your first few days are about protecting the skin barrier:

  • Avoid hot water, saunas, and swimming for around 72 hours, or until any swelling and pinpoint bleeding have fully settled.
  • If the area peels or flakes after a couple of days, keep it clean and use moisturiser rather than scrubbing.
  • If you notice light bleeding, gently wipe with sterile gauze and try to avoid scab formation.
  • Ice or gel packs can help reduce discomfort and swelling.

Keep your skincare simple. Avoid friction and avoid harsh actives until the skin feels stable again. Sun protection is not optional during the healing window, especially if you are treating pigmentation.

When you will see results

Microneedling is a gradual-result treatment, not a next-day transformation.

  • Days 1 to 3: redness and warmth settle, and sensitivity reduces.
  • Weeks 3 to 6: skin often starts to look smoother and more even.
  • Over a course: scars, pores, and fine lines typically improve in steps, with the best changes showing after repeated sessions.

Your clinician may recommend a series depending on your goal. Many patients do best when sessions are spaced to allow full settling before the next treatment.

A quick suitability guide

Microneedling is a good choice if you want to improve the texture and tone of your skin and don’t mind taking some time off. It may not be as good for you if you have a lot of tan, an active skin infection, or if you easily get scars that are hard to deal with. Always choose the plan that works best with how your skin reacts.

If you want a structured, tech-based approach, Mayam Aestetic can make a microneedling plan just for you, set a reasonable timeline, and help you with aftercare so that the results look natural and consistent.
